For the past two years, the Dynamic South Dancing Club (DSDC) has been working to change the lives of young people at Mariental.
Founded by local youth leader Brenden Bongo, the club provides a safe and productive environment for young people who often face limited opportunities and high unemployment rates.
By focusing on dance, music and the creative arts, DSDC offers a sense of structure and discipline that helps members build confidence and teamwork skills.
Parents and neighbours have witnessed how participants, who previously struggled with a loss of direction, grow into confident performers.
Bongo notes that the primary goal is to give young people a reason to believe in their own potential and stay focused on a positive future.
However, despite these successes, the club faces significant operational challenges.
DSDC currently functions without a permanent office or rehearsal space. The organisation also lacks basic administrative tools, including computers and reliable internet access, as well as essential equipment like sound systems and storage facilities.
These shortages have made it difficult for the club to manage its daily operations or apply for the formal funding needed to expand its reach in the Hardap region.
The club is appealing to businesses, government institutions and community members for assistance.
Bongo says support in the form of office space, equipment donations or sponsorships would directly help strengthen such youth development efforts.
