The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) has opened applications for its 2026 Innovation Awards, inviting innovators from across the country to submit ideas that can help solve Namibia’s development challenges while creating jobs and supporting economic growth.
Applications opened yesterday and will close on 1 October 2026. The awards form part of DBN’s annual Good Business & Innovation Awards, which recognise businesses and innovators making a positive contribution to the country’s economy.
The Innovation Awards focus on four priority sectors: energy, tourism and hospitality, manufacturing, and land and housing.
DBN is looking for new or significantly improved products, services, processes and business models that are practical, sustainable and can be expanded to benefit more people.
The Good Business Awards, which run alongside the Innovation Awards, recognise DBN-funded large businesses and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have honoured or exceeded the commitments made in their business plans and loan agreements. These businesses are also assessed on responsible business practices, sustainability and their contribution to Namibia’s socio-economic development.
DBN chief of marketing and corporate affairs Jerome Mutumba said the awards celebrate businesses that deliver on their promises and innovators who develop solutions to national challenges.
“Namibia’s progress depends on businesses that deliver responsibly and innovators who are bold enough to develop new solutions to our national challenges. These awards recognise the commitment, ingenuity and determination required to transform opportunities into sustainable enterprises and meaningful development impact. Through the Good Business & Innovation Awards, DBN is recognising those who not only imagine progress, but actively deliver it,” he said.
Last year’s Innovation Award winner, Lizwise Investment, received N$400 000 to expand its Mahangu Pasta business. DBN said this year’s competition will offer an improved prize package, which will be announced later.
The winner and runner-up will also take part in the DBN Mentoring and Coaching Programme, where they will receive business guidance and support to help grow their enterprises.
Application forms are available on the DBN website and can be submitted at DBN offices in Windhoek, Ongwediva, Rundu and Walvis Bay.
The winners will be announced during the 2026 DBN Good Business & Innovation Awards in November.
