DDYF provides assorted materials worth over D865,000 to caregivers

In delivering his speech, the Federation Manager Alieu Mendy gave brief background of the federation, saying DDYF was a CBO but based on performance, the NGO Affairs Agency and TANGO have recognised its efforts and approved it for registration as a local NGO effective April 2026. According to Mr Mendy, DDYF is in partnership with ChildFund The Gambia as a major donor. He added that DDYF focuses on the welfare and protection of children and youths within the districts of Kombo North and South under three intents: Healthy and secured infants, Education and confident children, and Skilled and involved youth who can meaningfully participate in national development. He also said that currently, DDYF has a total enrollment of 3,477 needy children of whom 2,131 have secured sponsors leaving a total of 1,34 without sponsors. He took the opportunity to call on all and sundry to come to their aid to reach out to those without sponsors. He stated: “The objectives of providing these hygiene materials to parents/caregivers of children within our sponsorship program are as follows: contribute to proper hygiene of school going children, contribute to the reduction of illness related to poor hygiene practices, complement parents/caregivers’ efforts in meeting family hygiene, and contribute to children pride of improved hygiene.” He also mentioned that DDYF implements its activities and programs through partnership with likeminded organizations, communities, individuals and philanthropists. “Today, DDYF presents assorted hygiene materials with D865,550 to 600 children within our sponsorship program,” he reiterated. The hygiene materials purchased includes 1,200 packets of laundry soap, 600 pieces of bleach bottles and 600 pieces of branded plastic laundry pans.
