Eid-el-Kabir: Borno govt restricts movement over security concerns

The Borno State Government has announced a temporary restriction on vehicular and human movement during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations as part of measures to strengthen security across the state.

The directive, approved by Governor Babagana Zulum, was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar.

According to the statement, the restriction will be enforced from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Eid day and will affect all categories of vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles across the state.

The government said the measure was introduced to ensure peaceful Eid prayers and protect residents during the festive period.

Residents were advised to observe prayers at Eid grounds closest to their homes to ease movement and support security operations.

Security agencies, ambulances, fire service personnel and other essential workers with valid identification were exempted from the restriction.

The government also urged residents across the 27 local government areas to cooperate with security operatives and comply with the directive in the interest of public safety.

Parents and guardians were advised to caution their children and wards against acts capable of disrupting public peace during the celebrations.

Governor Zulum also called on residents to continue praying for lasting peace in Borno State and Nigeria.
