(AURN News) — Is this the end of the American Dream?
A new CNBC survey found that more than half of Americans say the American Dream is not achievable right now. The poll found that 51% of respondents believe it is out of reach.
So what exactly do Americans consider the American Dream?
According to the survey, 72% said financial stability is part of the American Dream. Another 58% cited homeownership, while 54% pointed to happiness. More than half, 51%, said the freedom to pursue their passions is also part of the American Dream.
The findings come as the K-shaped economy continues to hammer middle- and lower-income Americans.
A K-shaped economy is one in which those at the top continue to build wealth while those at the bottom struggle to keep up.
From rising prices at the gas pump to growing fees and everyday expenses, many working-class Americans continue to feel the squeeze of an economy that increasingly feels out of reach.
