Jim Jones releases his 9th solo studio album, The Landlord, on Friday, June 13, under Hitmaker Music Group. The album is dancy and shattering, with Jones’ intention with the album painting a picture of his successes and evolution of his place in the New York City Hip-hop scene, as its allegorical landlord.
The Album features Fetty Wap, Fabolous, Maino, and Dave East, as well as Kodie Shane and Yung Bleu on the project’s lead single, “In The Car.”
It’s the track “Waiting for Response” that draws the listener into Jones ’vocals and lyrics, which helps tie down the listener into paying attention as Jones demands and almost courts the listener to respond.
Another highlight is “Middle of the Summer,” featuring Kodie Shane, which takes more of a party anthem turn in the album.
The album itself has a good range of slow and steady tracks that ripple into more club-dance parts of the album, which makes for good production. Furthermore, He captures the changes and challenges he’s faced over his long, storied career; his rise as a member of the Diplomats to a key player in NYC’s Music industry.
The release listening party for the Album was held at IFC Factory, a creative space in which Jones owns in Mott Haven, the Bronx, which serves as an incubator for new creators and influencers. The space was established in 2025.
The Landlord is set to release on Friday, June 13.
