Creative Sport Tourism Expo coming soon

Discussions between the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) and officials from Emeraldsand Platforms have taken place regarding the country’s first-ever creative sports tourism event, scheduled for the capital later this year.

Last week, NSC chief administrator Freddy Mwiya and the executive director of Emeraldsand Platforms held discussions focused on leveraging sport, creativity and tourism to drive economic growth, as well as showcase Namibian talent and place the country as a premier destination for sport tourism.

A statement by the NSC on their Facebook page says the commission hosted a productive strategic engagement with Emeraldsand Platforms on the anticipated Creative Sport Tourism Expo scheduled from 2 to 4 September.

Both parties expressed their desire to make the first-ever Creative Sport Tourism Expo an unforgettable experience. The expo set to take place at Dr Hage Geingob Stadium aims to unlock potential and elevate Namibian sport.

“We look forward to a successful partnership and an unforgettable experience,” reads the statement.

The expo is a landmark Namibian initiative designed to merge sport, tourism and creative industries into a single economic driver. It aims to promote economic diversification, create jobs and showcase Namibia’s diverse cultural and athletic talents on a global scale.

The inaugural event is expected to attract over 18 000 visitors and 3 000 competing athletes.

The core focus areas include the following:

Economic diversification: The expo acts as an economic catalyst to boost sectors like hospitality, media production and event management, supporting the Namibian government’s goal to create 500 000 jobs.

Collaboration: It connects tourism operators, sports federations, creative entrepreneurs and investors to develop sustainable revenue streams and new products.

Exhibitions and competitions: The three-day event features a hub of business networking and high-energy competitions (such as cheerleading and dance) designed to highlight youth talent and innovation.
