ACCSA Youth Connect Brings Energy, Dialogue and Empowerment to Young People
In early May 2026 Youth Connect brought together young African-Australians in Adelaide for a vibrant and engaging community gathering focused on connection, learning, and open dialogue. Organised by the African community Council of South Australia (ACSA), the event combined recreational activities such as games and group interaction with structured conversations that encouraged participants to speak openly about the challenges affecting youth today. Organisers described the atmosphere as both relaxed and meaningful, creating space for laughter alongside deeper reflection.

Many young Africans attended the event
A key highlight of the program was the facilitation led by youth mentor Desmond Mbangani, whose experience and approach helped create an environment of trust and active participation. His engagement style was noted for encouraging honest discussions while maintaining a strong sense of connection with the young attendees.
To keep the sessions interactive, organisers introduced creative learning incentives, including small rewards for participation and correct answers, adding a light-hearted and enjoyable element to the discussions.

Participants responded positively to the format, with many describing the event as energetic, inclusive, and inspiring. The combination of fun activities and meaningful conversation was seen as a strong way to engage young people in community issues.
Organisers emphasized that events like Youth Connect play an important role in ensuring young people feel heard, supported, and empowered to express themselves in safe environments.
With strong participation and positive feedback, ACCSA Youth Connect is expected to continue as an ongoing initiative aimed at strengthening youth engagement, leadership development, and community connection.
