Jub Jub – real name Molemo Maarohanye – has been arrested over a jealous fit of rage after accusing an Uber driver of being romantically involved with his girlfriend.
The Uyajola 9/9 presenter is facing charges of kidnapping, defeating the ends of justice and discharging a firearm in public.
But it’s not the first time his relationships have made headlines.
JUB JUB: WHO IS HIS GIRLFRIEND?
On Sunday, 14 June, Jub Jub was arrested after an altercation with an Uber driver.
Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the incident occurred after the TV personality confronted an e-hailing driver who had dropped off his girlfriend at his Edenvale residence in the early morning.
Jub Jub is accused of forcing the e-hailing driver into his own car and discharging a firearm in his direction.
The identity of his girlfriend has not been made public.
He is expected to make an appearance in the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
RELATIONSHIP HISTORY
Here is what we know about Jub Jub’s dating history thus far…
In 2022, the music artist and TV presenter’s fiancée, Tumi Mthembu, publicly accused him of being a “serial cheater”. In a media expose, Mthembu claimed that he had dated numerous women during their relationship, offering them engagement rings to keep their romances out of the public eye.
Shortly thereafter, pictures of Jub Jub with another woman – reportedly named “Kira” – went viral on social media. In the pics, the woman is seen embracing the artist, wearing a ring on her ring finger!
Jub Jub has also had romances with journalist Masechaba Ndlovu and actress Amanda du Pont, both of whom laid charges of rape against him. Amanda made the bombshell allegations – as well as claims he violently abused her during their relationship – in a social media post in 2022.
Despite an arrest in 2023, the charges were withdrawn a year later.
Jub Jub also infamously began a relationship with Kelly Khumalo in 2010. Later that year, the couple would welcome their son, Christian.
Jub Jub and Kelly split amid his murder (later culpable homicide) charges and sentencing. More than a decade after their breakup, the former couple are still at odds with each other.
Whilst in prison, Jub Jub was linked to media personality Matsatsi Rampa. However, this ended up in tears for the Uyajola host, after Sunday World claimed “notorious celebrity relationship wrecker” Edwin Sodi impregnated his girlfriend.
According to the Saturday Star, the star was also linked to Durban dancer and student Czernaaz Metedad around the same time as his relationship with Kelly and Amanda.
Then there was the case of Jub Jub’s Italian girlfriend, Zenith Zee Mia, who reportedly started dating the star while he was in prison.
