Man caught trying to steal motorcycle at 3:15 in the morning

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 29 year old labourer has been detained following an attempted motorcycle theft on Progress Street, Orange Walk Town.

According to the report, a 39 year old waitress was woken around 3:15am on Thursday by a neighbour knocking on her window, telling her someone was trying to steal her motorcycle.

She went outside and found her black and red AKT 125 motorcycle, valued at around $4,000, lying on the ground about four feet from where she had parked it in front of her door with the handle locked.

She told police she saw a man with no shirt on, wearing checkered three quarter pants, shouting at her neighbour that he was not afraid of police because he worked for them.

The man appeared to be intoxicated and was still at the scene when police arrived.

She said she had never seen him before and had given no one permission to remove her motorcycle. She noted that light from a nearby lamppost gave her a clear view of his face.

Arnel Medina was escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station by the Quick Response Team. The complainant has requested court action.
