MKE Peace Week is back and better than ever from May 18 to May 23, and we hope you can join in on the fun. Launched under the leadership of Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Peace Week was created to align and elevate the work already happening across the city to prevent violence, support healing, and strengthen our communities. This week is a coordinated, citywide effort that brings together City departments, community-based organizations, schools, faith leaders, and residents around a shared commitment to building a safer Milwaukee.
With partners including the Department of Community Wellness and Safety, the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee Public Schools, and a broad network of community partners, we’ll amplify youth voices, create space for real conversations, connect people to opportunity, and show what it looks like when a city comes together with purpose. Peace Week Events:
Monday, May 18 | 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Real Talk with 414 Youth
Location: Neu-Life Community Development Center
This interactive listening session will center on the voices of Milwaukee’s youth. City leaders will engage directly with young people in small group conversations to hear their experiences, ideas, and solutions for building safer communities.
Tuesday, May 19 | 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Back 2 Block: Reentry & Opportunity Night
Location: Milwaukee City Hall, 200 E. Wells St.
Milwaukee City Hall will be converted into a space for second chances and new opportunities. This event brings together employers, community groups, and support services to help individuals returning home or working to get back on track find jobs, access resources, and build a strong foundation moving forward.
Wednesday, May 20 | 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Breakfast of Gratitude with MKE Peacebuilders
Location: Calvary Presbyterian Church
A morning dedicated to recognizing the individuals and organizations on the frontlines of violence prevention, healing, and community safety. This event honors the work being done every day to build a safer Milwaukee.
Thursday, May 21 | 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Breaking Down Bullets: Panel Discussion
Location: Sherman Phoenix
A powerful conversation featuring survivors of gun violence, community leaders, law enforcement, and elected officials. In partnership with the Milwaukee Chapter of Mothers Against Gun Violence and the Department of Wellness and Safety, this panel will explore the impact of gun violence and focus on solutions rooted in prevention, accountability, and community action.
Friday, May 22 | 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Community Service & Volunteer Day
Location: Citywide (Obama School + Adopt-a-School Sites)
Residents, city staff, and partners will come together for a coordinated day of service. Activities include neighborhood clean-ups, beautification efforts, and projects that restore pride and strengthen community spaces.
Saturday, May 23 | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Annual Peace March & Games
Location: Mitchell Park
Join us as we close out Peace Week with a citywide march followed by games, activities, and a community celebration. This event brings together families, youth, and partners to promote unity, connection, and a shared commitment to peace.
