Mr. T Doubles Down & Calls Netflix Documentary “Garbage” In Fiery Interview

Mr. T sat down with Entertainment Tonight and doubled down on his disappointment in his Netflix documentary “Untold: Mr. T: I Pity the Fool.”

The 74-year-old icon called the doc “garbage,” saying it missed the mark on what his life and career are really about.

“Mad as hell. Say, ‘Look here. If all we’re showing is my toughness, we’re missing the mark, cause I’m more than that. So, if we don’t capture that, then it’s sort of pissing me off.’ At times my story is rough and raw and gritty, and it’s sad, but I rise above that. How you not going to betray me in church? This pastor knows more about me than anybody, right? He watched me become Mr. T.”

The legendary actor, born Lawrence Tureaud, said the Netflix documentary focuses on the wrong parts of his life and journey to fame.

But he still encourages fans to watch and learn more about his story.

The iconic “I Pity the Fool” line came from Mr. T’s own creativity.

He explained the meaning behind it: “I pity the fool. Basically, them saying in the streets, ‘This man got to be a fool to go up against me.’ Truthfully, pity means mercy. Pity, I’m showing I’m cutting him some slack.”

On The A-Team, Mr. T made sure his character never killed anybody. He was proud of that choice because he didn’t want kids watching the show to want the guns his character had.

He wanted to entertain people while sending a message about good over evil and niceness over disrespect.

“I tell people as an actor, I wanted to do two things. I wanted to entertain as well as get a message across. The message was good over evil, niceness over rude and disrespectfulness, you know.”

Mr. T worked as a bodyguard to major stars and fighters, including Michael Jackson. He took that job seriously, staying unfriendly and focused on getting his clients from point A to point B safely. His greatest joy was hearing a client say thank you at the end of the day.

Mr. T said he’s nothing but a big, overgrown, tough, butt-kicking mama boy.

He put the mama in it because he wanted people to know there’s nothing wrong with loving your mother. The more guys who love their mothers, he said, the fewer guys end up in prison.

Netflix has not commented on Mr. T’s criticism of “Untold: Mr. T: I Pity the Fool,” which is currently streaming.
