Asked whether his new album T’s & C’s Apply reflects the new direction fans have been hearing in his recent streams and social media activity, the rapper said it captures “a little bit of it,” suggesting the project offers a glimpse into the evolution underway in his artistry.

The conversation then turned personal, with Nasty C asked what he had to lose to become the version of himself fans know today, particularly as he navigated independence and his career on his own terms.

“I lost a lot of bad stuff, like holding myself back, a little bit of the doubts, constant self, limiting myself,” he explained.

Rather than pointing to a single dramatic turning point, Nasty C described his growth as a process of shedding the mental barriers that previously limited him. Self-doubt, he admitted, can still creep in from time to time, but he has developed ways of pulling himself out of that space.

One of his strategies is surprisingly simple: step away from music.

“What usually works for me is, like, to do something totally outside of what I do for a living. I might go read a book. I might go play a game somewhere, do something random,” he said.

For Nasty C, stepping outside his usual creative environment provides an opportunity to reset and approach things from a different perspective.

The rapper also shared a key principle he applies to both romantic and professional relationships: clear communication. “Peace, to have clear communication and clear lines of communication,” he said when asked about an important lesson he lives by.

He added that healthy relationships also require people to be honest enough to challenge one another when necessary. According to Nasty C, people should be able to point out when someone is not living up to their potential without creating unnecessary conflict.

“If you’re not living up to your potential, I should be able to tell you, you know, step it up a bit, without you being offended,” he said.

His comments paint a picture of an artist increasingly focused not only on his music, but also on personal discipline, emotional growth and maintaining healthy relationships as he continues to evolve.
