In response, Merici Vinton, a senior fellow for government delivery at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement: This ambitious move shows that New York City’s leaders are committed to building responsive, easy-to-use government services. Hopefully, this will be a model for cities, counties, and states across the country. I encourage them to tackle the impossible projects; nobody thought free tax filing was possible, but an in-house government team in the Biden administration made Direct File happen. They should work to set high standards for improving government efficiency.
