(AURN News) — On Sept. 10, 1968, Antonio Hardy, better known as Big Daddy Kane, was born in Brooklyn, New York. Today, he turns 58 years old.

A Brooklyn native, Kane became one of the most influential rappers of hip-hop’s golden age, known for his sharp lyricism, smooth delivery, style and commanding stage presence.

He rose to fame in the late 1980s with classics like “Ain’t No Half-Steppin’,” “Raw” and “Smooth Operator,” helping define the sound and swagger of an era.

Big Daddy Kane was also known for blending battle rap, storytelling, romance and showmanship in a way that influenced generations of MCs. His impact can be heard in artists who followed, from technical lyricists to charismatic performers.
