At least one person has died in a road crash involving a bus and a Fuso truck along the Kampala–Gulu Highway.
The bus, belonging to Gulu Secondary School and carrying students on a tour to Jinja, was involved in the accident in Kigumba earlier in the morning.
According to Michael Kananura, the Public Relations Officer at the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, the crash occurred when the bus driver attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided head-on with an oncoming Fuso truck.
“The bus conductor died on the spot, while 17 students sustained injuries. Of these, two are critically injured, while 15 sustained minor injuries,” he said.
He added that the injured students are currently admitted at Kiryandongo Hospital, where they are receiving treatment
