THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the recovery a large contraband of smuggled alcohol, a major development in the fight against drugs and substance misuse.
One suspect has reportedly been arrested in connection with the matter which led to the recovery of 2,760 bottles of alcohol.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of a suspect in Harare in connection with the unlawful possession and smuggling of illicit alcoholic beverages from a neighbouring country,” said ZRP national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
“Subsequently, the police recovered 2,760x 300ml bottles of smuggled alcoholic beverages.”
Investigations are in progress to establish the source and intended distribution network of the contraband.
