President of Constitutional Council Returns to Nouakchott from Algeria

The President of the Constitutional Council, Mr Diallo Mamadou Bathia, returned to Nouakchott last night from Algeria, having taken part in the International Forum on ‘Citizens’ Right of Access to Constitutional Justice’.

The forum’s programme, which ran until the 8th of this month, included a series of specialised sessions focusing on key constitutional and human rights issues, notably: the status of rights and freedoms in national constitutions and international instruments; methods of reviewing the constitutionality of laws and their role in protecting rights and freedoms; and the right of individuals to access constitutional justice.
