Shaningwa questions God over Uerikua’s death

Swapo Party secretary general Sophia Shaningwa says she has questioned God and is angry about the sudden death of former parliamentarian James Uerikua.

Shaningwa describes Uerikua as one of her best friends, saying his early departure has left her deeply shaken.

“I asked God, are you sure you did not make a mistake? Why didn’t you consult with me before taking James? I was very angry, to the point I had to question God,” she says.

Shaningwa says she and God normally consult each other but this time she felt let down.

Shaningwa was speaking on Saturday at a memorial service held at Otjiserandu in the Otjozondjupa region in honour of Uerikua’s son, Venturo.

She described Uerikua as a son to her and to the Ovaherero community, saying his legacy will endure despite his passing.

“Although he is no more, we will forever remember him,” she added.
