The Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) is sending a 43-member contingent to Guadeloupe this weekend for the French West Indies Sevens Trophy tournament.

Hosted by Goodluck Rugby Club at Bas-du-Fort pitch in Gosier, the competition will see three Saint Lucian teams lining up: men, women, and juniors.

The women, drawn in Pool A, will contest the Monique Ribeaut Shield, while the men will play for the Tristan Chauvel Trophy. Each division includes nine teams, with representation from Martinique, St Martin, and Suriname. The weekend closes out with carnival festivities.

SLRFU technical director Wayne Pantor said: “We are incredibly proud to be able to send three teams to compete in the Guadeloupe GoodLuck 7s. This tournament provides a fantastic opportunity for our players to gain valuable experience and to test themselves against top-level competition. We are confident that our teams will represent Saint Lucia with passion, pride, and perseverance.”

The team includes players from the SLRFU Academy, as well as Saint Lucian nationals playing in Canada and the USA. The SLRFU says they have been diligently preparing for the tournament, with grueling training sessions and practice matches to fine tune their skills and strategies.
