*“My age. I’m in the third act,” said 13X Billboard chart-topping jazz guitarist Chris Standring when discussing the meaning to the title of his 18th solo album “Time of Change” – out March 20, 2026, via Ultimate Vibe Records.

I thought it was because the British native, now a Los Angeles resident, was recently married for the first time. Soon after the union the couple launched (March 22nd) a Vlog “Love, Miles & Music” that airs or streams on Sundays via his YouTube channel that has over 31,000 subscribers. Not so though, according to Chris.

“It was love at first sight,” he acknowledged about his marriage to Erica. “I met her at a show in Atlanta. She is friends with the promoter and the DJ said, ‘9th caller gets to see Chris Standring.’ She was the 9th caller…and she showed up to the show! There was an animal magnetism. She was interesting…we had deep chats. Of course, she ignored me for the next two months!”

Erica and Chris Standring
Jazz guitarist Chris Standring launches VLog ‘Love, Miles & Music’ with him and his wife Erica and releases a new album ‘Time of Change.’

Chris, who is also proficient as a keyboardist and horn player, did say that the union with Erica influenced this album, “Time of Change”. The project offers 11 tracks that includes one in honor of his father called “A Song for Alistar” who recently passed away. “Time of Change” features horn assistance from Brandon Fields on tenor sax; Tom Saviano on alto sax; Michael Stever on trumpet, and Erik Hughes on trombone. The current single for the project is “Hollywood Hustle.” The music video for the single has already amassed over 8,400 views in just one month.

“It’s more R&B,” he said with a slight grin about the “Time of Change” project. “Her music taste inspired me…got under my skin.”

When I asked him if he had a plan for the album before it was recorded, he said, “It’s whatever comes out, I go with it. The whole album, ‘Time of Change,’ is about my personal changes. Where I am at this stage of life. What I have done – the Golden years. I am looking forward to the future.”

I asked about the Vlog series that him and Erica have going on and he said, “It’s weekly YouTube series…a Vlog of us traveling around the world…filming it. It’s fun for us.”

Also featured on the “Time of Change” album are Andre Berry on bass; Chad Wright on drums; Lenny Castro on percussion; Grammy winning Brian Bromberg on bass; George Whitty on piano; Dave Karasony on drums, and Rodney Lee on keyboard. Chris Standring debuted in 1998 with the “Velvet” album that garnered eight Billboard #1 hits and more than 15 Top Ten singles. www.ChrisStandring.com
