The Uganda Women’s Rugby Premiership has officially split into two clusters, with the Thunderbirds leading the breakaway group.
A 56-point victory against the Panthers at Kyadondo last Saturday ensured that the Thunderbirds stay on top of the league table with 26 points.
In the chasing pack, the Avengers and Nile Rapids are closely following on 25 points each, and are only separated by points difference.
In the bottom cluster, the Panthers losing to Thunderbirds means they remain 6th on the table with only 5 points from 8 games.
The She Wolves and Ewes make up the rest of the Bottom 3, and all 3 teams were rather unfortunate to travel away to their stronger counterparts, where they failed to even pick a losing bonus point.
With one more Game Week before the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup in May, all the women’s team shall look to go out with a bang.

While the Thunderbirds are likely to pick up a routine win against the Ewes at Makerere in Game Week 11, the Avengers and Nile Rapids shall finally have to settle their matters. The last time Avengers hosted the Nile Rapids, it ended in a draw in Entebbe under rainy conditions. This was a game either side could have walked away with, and that matter shall finally be put to bed at Ruck Yard, Jinja.
For the Thunderbirds, the biggest stumbling block to their Premiership title aspirations is the Nile Rapids. The Rapids defeated Thunderbirds on the opening day of the league, and the latter will want to avenge this loss when the Rapids visit.
For now, a one-point difference at the top is all that matters, as it separates the Thunderbirds in first place from the Avengers and Nile Rapids in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
