If you fancy a change from the Brockwell Lido, the historic Tooting Bec Lido awaits your swimming action!
The UK’s largest outdoor freshwater swimming pool will reopen for the summer season on Friday 1st May, welcoming swimmers back to one of South London’s most iconic spaces.
Operated and managed by Places Leisure, an agent for Wandsworth Council, the much-loved 90-metre pool will be open daily throughout the summer, offering a mix of lane swimming and more relaxed open swim sessions.
As well as being the UK’s largest outdoor freshwater swimming pool it is also one of the oldest. Opened in 1906 as the Tooting Bathing-Lake, the lido has welcomed thousands of visitors over the years.
In addition to the main pool, onsite facilities include a children’s paddling pool, café, and sunbathing area. With its distinctive colourful changing huts and spacious poolside areas, the lido remains one of South London’s most popular destinations for outdoor swimming.
Karen Wells, General Manager of Tooting Bec Lido at Places Leisure, said:

Whether you’re a regular early morning lane swimmer or visiting for a relaxed dip with friends and family, the lido offers something special for everyone throughout the season.”
Tickets for Tooting Bec Lido can be booked in advance via the Places Leisure website. Visitors are encouraged to book ahead to avoid disappointment, although walk-in entry may be available if sessions are not fully booked.
260 free swimming places are available every day for Wandsworth residents who are members of the council’s Access for All scheme (130 for each session).
