ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR has reaffirmed its commitment to developing halal tourism following a meeting between President Hussein Ali Mwinyi and global halal tourism advocate Ismail Bullock, who is currently training tourism stakeholders on the island.
The meeting was held at State House Zanzibar earlier today, June 3, 2026, where Bullock, based in Dubai, visited alongside a delegation from the Samia Foundation on various issues focused on strengthening the understanding and implementation of halal tourism in line with Islamic principles and international tourism standards.
During their talks, President Mwinyi praised Bullock’s global work in promoting halal tourism and said the Isle’s government supports initiatives that advance tourism aligned with Islamic values.
“Zanzibar will continue engaging with experts in the sector to improve its tourism offering and broaden opportunities for growth,” he said.

He also commended Bullock for publishing and distributing English translations of the Holy Qur’an, saying the initiative helps deepen understanding of halal tourism among stakeholders. Mwinyi assured him of continued government cooperation in advancing the sector.
Bullock said his mission is to ensure halal tourism is clearly understood and widely implemented across countries, adding that the concept is gaining strong global traction.
Mr Bullock is currently in Zanzibar conducting training sessions for tourism industry players on halal tourism development.
