ABFA mourns the passing of Ickford “Ocean” Carr

A stalwart of Pares Football and a son of Antiguan Sport died on Sunday 7th June.

In a press release announcing the passing of Ickford “Ocean” Carr of Pares Village, the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and former teammates.

“Ocean” is fondly remembered as a speedy right-winger for the Pares Football Team during the 1970s, where he played alongside the likes of “Warrior” Benjamin, “Bucko” Barnes, and the Looby brothers: Durban and “Knowledge,” the release said. He was an admired and respected player within his community, and his passing is felt by all who knew him on and off the pitch.

Roberts further commented on Carr’s passing.

“The ABFA family joins the community of Pares in mourning the loss of ‘Ocean.’ To the young players of today, I say this: the game you play and love was shaped by men like him — players who gave their energy and passion to football at the club level, without fanfare or fortune. It is on the backs of our past players that Antigua and Barbuda Football is built. We honour them, and we honour ‘Ocean.’”

The ABFA offers its prayers and condolences to the Carr family. May Ickford “Ocean” Carr rest in peace. Gone, but never forgotten.
