After America 250 Will America Survive For Another 50?
By Colin Benjamin Photos: Wikimedia Commons Today, America is celebrating the 250th anniversary of its independence after revolting against Colonial England. But amid the July 4th celebrations, and the mythical lies that will be told by politicians, ominous winds of change should be apparent to anyone with their eyes wide open. A most important question now is: can this America survive for another fifty years? The primary problem in America, along with institutional racism and classism, is that it has never been historically honest about the lies, deceptions, and destruction that it has inflicted upon–African Americans, Indigenous Peoples–and untold millions of people around the globe. This includes all the imperialist wars of destabilization, and the mass murders, it has committed throughout the world. White Americans, up to this point, have never taken any responsibility for its original sins. Most of these federal holidays embellish the whitewashed lies of America’s foundation myths–except for MLK Day, and Juneteenth, which point to the dark reality and dirty underbelly of American history. White Americans celebrating America 250 today should ask themselves this: what kind of psychic damage is done to America when they continue to make grandiose proclamations about freedom, liberty, and democracy in a country built on Genocide and Slavery? Apparently, only “all [white] men were created equal?” A few uncomfortable facts here. Upwards of 60 million indigenous Native Americans became victims of Genocide by the European colonists who invaded Turtle Island and ran the land red with “Indian” blood to make this America. Remember this today and MAGA racist rhetoric about the invasion of Mexicans, and as ICE agents attack Latinos–some of whom are ancestors of the very Native Americans who were victims of mass slaughter by white Americans. No other so-called racial group is more responsible for any “greatness” that America has than African Americans. Most of the “Founding Fathers” owned–and became wealthy, because they owned slaves including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Hamilton. “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” or property, for whom? The Declaration of Independence was issued in 1776. Why weren’t African slaves unshackled, from their physical chains, until after the Civil War ended in 1865? Black exploited, unpaid, labor was the single most important factor which gave impetus to the world power status of America. We are owed a debt that America could never fully pay. Yet still, America continues to fight against our rightful calls for Reparations. Earlier this year, America was one of only three nations (along with Israel and Argentina) that voted no to a United Nations’ resolution which declared the Transatlantic Slave Trade was a grave crime against humanity. Think about that. A nation which praises and pats itself on the back about upholding liberty basically said, in the international arena, that enslaving Black Africans wasn’t as bad as it was. At least 2 million, of 12 million, Africans died just coming across the Atlantic Ocean. Another 5 million died building this giant America. Really, no apology for Genocide or Slavery in 2026? Of course, America is now aiding-and-abetting Genocide, in Gaza, against Palestinians. Here is another harsh truth: the American Colonists main reasons for revolting against England was from the “tyranny” of being told, by King George III (see his Proclamation of 1763) that they could not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains, which prevented them from further invading and taking lands of the “savage” Native Americans. Equally important, the Colonists were sent into a panic when a Black slave, James Somerset, prevailed in gaining his freedom, in the infamous landmark Somerset v. Stewart case, of 1772, in England. The decision led American Colonists to believe the handwriting was on the wall for the abolition of Slavery in America. And the profits from Slavery was just too lucrative for these flesh peddlers, in Black bodies, to give up. Domestically today, African Americans are witnessing a regression of forward political progression as the nation’s dictatorial Mafia-style president, Donald Trump, and his MAGA cult, are systematically attacking the gains of African Americans, including, importantly, suppressing our votes and political representation. But this country will never be any greater if it continues to disrespect the central role played by African Americans in the nation’s history. White mythmaking can never erase our hand and footprints from the foundations of this nation. White America’s debt to Black America must be paid–with Reparations. Today, America is celebrating the 250th anniversary of its independence after revolting against Colonial England.

Apparently, only “all [white] men were created equal?”
A few uncomfortable facts here.

Because of greedy billionaires, and because white America continues its race war against Black America, the book of America seems to be speeding ultimately toward a final conclusion. The America that was once know is failing and falling.
The signs are all around us that the American “experiment” is slowly dying. For one thing, the level of corruption coming from the highest echelons of power, as regular Americans face a diminishing dollar and standard of living, is a sobering harbinger of the impending demise of “American exceptionalism.”
Unfortunately, because of several factors, far too many Americans are shockingly unaware of just how bad the current political crisis in America is.
America’s “representative democracy” was always controlled, or curtailed, by white wealthy men who instituted things like the Electoral College to thwart full democracy. White men of means were always able to use their money and influence to crush the full aspirations of “We The People.”
Another problem is that many Americans seem clueless about the seriousness of the time.

On Jan. 6, 2021, Trump’s MAGA mob was incited into attacking Capitol Hill–in a clear attempt to overthrow the will of American voters who decided Joe Biden was the better of the two evils to be the next president. However, the individual who obviously provoked the violence on that unprecedented day paid no price whatever for that villainous treasonous act.
Republicans, who for years gave us holier-than-thou lectures about “putting country before party” conveniently forgot those words and refused to convict Donald Trump, who now has the dubious distinction of being the nation’s first convict president, after his New York convictions on 34 felonies. Republicans proved to use they are supreme frauds who put party power before the American people.
Troublingly, the American people show little understanding (is the media to blame?) of the magnitude of the criminality that was perpetrated on Jan. 6–and American voters rewarded the racist reprobate rat responsible for that outrage by sending him back to the White House. Is there any wonder then why, in this his second term, that Trump is unfettered in his tyrannical actions, as he was also told he was above the law by our right-wing partisan not so Supreme Court?
Right now, many Americans, including some Trump supporters are struggling because of the rising cost of living which Trump compounded with his stupid tariff wars and by starting a war of aggression with Iran that led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the current stalemate regarding ending the war.
Yet, the economic woes Americans find themselves in is but one of the problems they should be considering now. Trump is systematically destroying governmental checks and balances America used to brag about.
But Trump isn’t the main problem in America. He is a monster created by dishonest America. The MAGA movement which brought him to power will continue to support Trump because they are trying to turn back the hands of time as America daily becomes a majority non-white country.
The ICE raids, and all the hysteria about immigration, along with the continued anti-Black, anti-Muslim, attacks and conversations about DEI, represent the “great replacement” fear MAGA Americans have about losing their white supremacist hold on the supposed white “Christian” nation. Those of us who aren’t white should remember this: these right-wing Second Amendment fanatics would prefer to commit mass homicide\suicide by blowing up America before allowing it to become a “more perfect union” where Blacks, and other non-whites, take their fair share of the “American Dream.”
Donald Trump has parlayed these white fears of MAGA to become president and used MAGA’s violence on Jan. 6, 2021 in an attempt to hold onto political power. Because that crime when unpunished, America will eventually see more political violence because of Trumpism, and increasing white nationalism signals that the America we know may never see another 50 years, from today’s celebration of America 250.
