By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City driver has been fined after pleading guilty to handling stolen goods after purchasing a stolen Milwaukee bit set for $40.

Thirty-two-year-old Leonard Anthony Logan of Belama Phase 3 appeared unrepresented before newly appointed Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed in Court #7 of the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he admitted to a single charge of handling stolen goods.

Police alleged that on May 1, 2026, Logan assisted in the retention of a Milwaukee brand bit set valued at $100, property belonging to a businessman.

According to police, Logan told investigators he bought the tool set from a man he claimed needed money to feed his children. However, he reportedly failed to provide police with the identity of the seller.

In mitigation, Logan told the court that he had been heading home from work when a young man approached him offering to sell the bit set, saying he needed money to buy food for his children. Logan said he paid the man $40 for the item and went home.

The court heard that the bit set had been stolen during a burglary at a Dakers Street home between March 24 and March 25, 2026. Several items were reportedly stolen during the burglary, including drills, tools, electronics, and cash totaling nearly $6,000 in value.

For his guilty plea, Logan, a first-time offender, was fined $300 plus a $5 court cost. If he defaults on payment, he will serve three weeks imprisonment.
