By Zoila Palma: On May 21, 2026, beloved pediatrician Dr. Cecilio Eck was laid to rest.
Dr. Eck’s ashes made its final farewell at St. Martin’s de Porres Church in Belize City.
For years, Dr. Eck dedicated his life to caring for children across Belize and became one of the country’s most recognized and respected pediatricians. His compassion, humor and commitment to his young patients earned him the love and admiration of countless families nationwide.
“Dr. Eck served with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of children and families in Belize. He served as our medical director and his generosity of spirit, commitment to service, and steadfast support of our mission helped shape and strengthen our organization in immeasurable ways.
Beyond his many accomplishments, Dr. Eck will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and the genuine care he showed to all those fortunate enough to know him. He was not only a valued member of our Board, but a trusted friend whose presence and guidance touched countless lives,” World Pediatrics Belize expressed.
Tributes and messages of condolence have been pouring in from Belizeans remembering the impact he had on generations of children.
