BLACK ICE WARNING ISSUED AFTER SLEET AND SNOW FALLS
A warning for black ice across the Isle of Wight has been issued by local forecasters IW Met Service.
Light sleet and snow fall earlier this evening (Sunday) has led to the road network being soaked, particularly in central, eastern and southern parts of the Island.
Now, with freezing temperatures predicted overnight, there is a risk of black ice on untreated roads and surfaces, especially in rural parts and away from windward coasts.
-3c could be seen in a few Southern and eastern parts of the Isle of Wight.
Motorists are warned of hazardous driving conditions in some areas, especially in low lying rural spots or where any run-off water has collected.
Gritters have been out across the road network already tonight and will be back out from 05:00.
The warning is valid from 20:00 tonight until 13:00 tomorrow afternoon.
