Wounded Blacks Power host champions Vipers at the Hoima City stadium on Wednesday confident of upsetting the ‘best team’ in the country as per head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa.

The league’s newcomers started brightly with nine points in nine but saw their perfect record ended in a 2-1 defeat to BUL before the long international break.

Against Vipers, they face arguably their strongest test in the premiership so far but Mugerwa has sounded confident after he also guided the side to shock wins over Police and Maroons so far.

“We have used the international break well to prepare for this game,” Mugerwa told reporters. “They are champions but we are champions of the big league as well,” he warned.

“It is a good opportunity to play against the strongest team in the country and we want to win and make our fans happy.”

Ivan Okello returns to the squad after he missed the trip to Njeru and there is no health issues reported from the hosts’ camp.

Meanwhile, visitors Vipers will hope to build on their previous 3-0 win over Ntugasaze as they seek to stake claim on the title defence.

Ceaser Manzoki who opened his account for the club in that game as well as Nigerian import Chukwuma Odili will be key in attack with Ugandan international Hilary Mukundane start at the heart of defence.

Farouk Miya came off the bench against Ntugasaze and put up a man of the match performance and it remains to be seen whether Denis Lavagne will prefer to start him.

Key stat: Vipers has won all the previous three meetings in all competitions including a 3-0 victory in the Stanbic Uganda Cup last year at Kitende.

Elsewhere on Thursday, Express visit high flying NEC as night football returns at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
