Celebrity Hairstylist, Najah Aziz, Talks Fall 2026 Pixie Cut Trends, Manageability & More
Celebrity hairstylist Najah Aziz reveals that fall 2026's hottest trend is textured, undone pixie cuts celebrating individuality—and they work for all hair types.

When it comes to pixie cuts, celebrity hairstylist Najah Aziz is not new to this; she’s true to it. Known for creating chic pixie cuts for actress Malinda Williams, Najah has helped bring the style to life in looks ranging from structured, spiky ‘dos to sleek cuts. While Black women have long been fond of short cuts, the pixie continues to evolve with a focus on length, texture, and shape.
As fall marks a new season for hair, Najah is seeing renewed interest in short styles that celebrate individuality. From undone, piecey cuts to shaggy bixies (the combination of a short bob and a pixie), the girls are letting their creativity make a statement and their confidence shine. Although many beauty mavens opt for protective styles to shield their strands from the anticipated chill, Najah notes that women are selecting styles that feel more liberating and uniquely their own.
Fall 2026 is all about embracing pixies with movement.
Don’t get it twisted: finger waves and face-framing cropped pixies are still a look. However, tapered cuts and hybrid styles that balance length with structure are also getting attention.
“I’m seeing more undone, piecey pixies and bixies with shaggy, mullet-inspired details,” Najah tells HelloBeautiful exclusively. “What makes these cuts distinct is their effortless texture and movement. Not every strand needs to be perfectly in place. It’s about freedom, individuality, and embracing imperfection.”
These styles offer a fresh take on short hair and move beyond the uniform, overly polished finish. For Najah, the appeal lies in short cuts that feel modern and lived-in, leaving room for individuality. That emphasis on self-expression also means finding a style that complements each woman’s features, texture, and lifestyle seamlessly.
Anyone can pull off a pixie
“Beauty standards” would have you believe that pixie cuts are only reserved for women with looser textures. However, as the hair world evolves, we’ve learned that pixies can work for all hair textures. The key is finding a cut that complements your hair’s density and texture.
Najah explains that she takes everything from a client’s head shape and natural curl pattern to lifestyle and personal style into account when deciding on a look. “My goal is to create a look that reflects their individuality,” she says. “Every haircut is intentionally customized.”
Finding the right cut is half the battle. Manageability can make some women pause before committing to the look. Hairstylists create and shape a pixie, but understanding at-home maintenance is essential to keeping the style fresh.
Although she believes that pixie cuts are manageable when they’re cut well, consistency has to be part of the equation. Najah recommends visiting “a stylist who specializes in short hair every three to five weeks.”
“Having the right essentials, such as a silk scarf or pillowcase and quality products for softness and shine, makes all the difference,” she says. “A great haircut, the right products, and a consistent maintenance schedule are the keys to effortless short hair.”
The short styles clients are asking for
Najah has been on an epic run with her beloved Pixie Pop-Up Tour, with recent stops in Philadelphia and New Jersey. The tour gives stylists a chance to learn precision cutting while working with various textures. As for Najah, she gains insight into upcoming trends through client consultations.
During her stops, Najah says that clients are making requests for pixies with a fuller and more versatile look. Women have been opting for short cuts with closely tapered sides, long bangs, and volume on top to create a “disconnected look.” “Ultimately, women want customized styles that complement their features, fit their lifestyles, and make them feel beautiful and confident.”
Pixies are much more than a style choice. For many women, a dramatic haircut represents the start of a new era. Whether they’re coming to terms with loss or navigating a career change, changing their hair can be the starting point of self-discovery.
“Sometimes a radical change on the outside is simply a reflection of the transformation happening within,” Najah says.
