Eric Chelle has moved to ease concerns over ongoing contract negotiations with the Nigeria Football Federation, insisting his attention remains firmly on team development and upcoming assignments with the Nigeria national football team.
The Super Eagles head coach confirmed that discussions over financial terms are ongoing but stressed that such matters are being handled by his representatives, allowing him to focus on football operations and squad building.
“Yes, there are financial issues to be discussed and resolved, but I leave those for my agent to handle with the federation. I want to concentrate on the job and the task at hand,” Chelle said.
The coach also revealed plans to travel to Nigeria to observe domestic talent in the Nigeria Professional Football League, as part of his efforts to expand the national team pool and strengthen scouting networks.
“I am coming to Nigeria to watch some NPFL games and scout players,” he added.
Chelle further highlighted the importance of upcoming international commitments, with the Unity Cup in London forming a key part of his early preparation roadmap with the Super Eagles.
“We also have the Unity Cup in London to prepare for,” he noted.
Since his appointment, Chelle has emphasized a blend of local talent identification and structured team development, with a clear intention to reconnect the national team setup with domestic football while maintaining competitiveness on the international stage.
For now, while negotiations with the federation continue in the background, Chelle’s focus appears firmly fixed on building a squad capable of delivering immediate results and long-term stability.
