China plans to purchase over 200 Boeing Aircraft from the United States

China will purchase 200 Boeing aircraft from the United States in line with its air transport development needs and commercial principles.

That was among the eight preliminary Outcomes of the agreement between China and the United States on issues related to economy, Trade Consultations, Tariffs, Agricultural development, Rare Earth Export Controls and Aircraft Trade

On the other hand, the United States will guarantee China a sufficient supply of plane engines and spare parts.

The Chinese National Carrier, Air China currently operates more than 135 Boeing planes out of its fleet of over 520 aircraft, among them Airbus equipment from Europe.

The Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) in China elaborated on the eight preliminary outcomes of the recently held China-US economic and trade consultations.

The consultations cover tariff arrangements, expanding agricultural product trade, extension of the joint arrangement for economic and trade consultations in Kuala Lumpur, rare-earth export control issues, Boeing aircraft purchases, as well as market access for agricultural products.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said Beijing and Washington are still in consultation over details related to the outcomes reached so far.

Tariffs

On tariff arrangement, China hopes the United States would honor its commitments, and in the future, regardless of imposing or replacing tariffs on Chinese goods on any ground.

The level of US tariffs on China must therefore not exceed the level agreed upon in the joint arrangements reached during the economic and trade talks in Kuala Lumpur.

China and the US agreed in principle to discuss, under the trade council, a reciprocal tariff reduction framework arrangement on products of equivalent scale, that is worth US$30 billion or more on each side.

Rare Earth

Regarding the Rare Earth Export Control, China and US economic and trade teams have held in-depth communications on relevant export control issues, and the two sides will jointly study and resolve each other’s legitimate concerns.

China will review export license applications for compliant civilian-use products in accordance with the law and will work with the US to create favorable conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation and the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

Agriculture

Meanwhile the United States has pledged to lift automatic detention measures imposed on Chinese dairy products since 2008, accept trial shipments of Chinese potted bonsai grown in a special medium and work towards lifting automatic detention measures on three categories of seafood products.

As for the United States’ beef enterprises registration, China agreed to renew export licenses for eligible US beef plants, lift restrictions related to avian flu on certain US states and expedite the review of US beef companies suspended over drug residue issues, and to hold exchanges on agricultural biotechnology.
