Coleman Domingo Is Producing A Film About André Leon Talley – Here’s What We Know
Colman Domingo is helping bring André Leon Talley’s extraordinary fashion journey to the screen with the documentary André Leon Talley: Style Is Forever. The film features memories from major fashion voices including Bethann Hardison, Law Roach, Kimora Lee Simmons and more. From Talley’s legendary capes to his influence on fashion culture, the documentary celebrates the legacy of a true icon.

The fashion world remains obsessed with the late André Leon Talley, and so are we. The more we learn about the fashion genius, the more we understand his perspective, his refusal to shrink himself for the industry and the lasting mark he left on couture, culture and Black fashion history.
So when we heard Colman Domingo was helping bring even more of André’s story to the screen, we were sat. And yes, we will be wearing something fabulous while we watch.
André Leon Talley: Style Is Forever hits select theaters in October. Colman and his husband, Raúl Domingo, executive produced the documentary alongside Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) President and Founder Paula Wallace and other SCAD supporters and students.
(This is the next step in SCAD’s celebration of Andre through its exhibitions and now documentary).
The documentary follows Talley’s journey from North Carolina, to becoming Vogue’s first Black creative director. It also looks at the barriers he broke and how his work pushed fashion toward broader ideas of beauty, identity and representation.
And the people helping tell his story know fashion.
Bethann Hardison, Law Roach, Lindsey Peoples, Kimora Lee Simmons, Veronica Webb, Constance White and Carlos Nazario are among the Black fashion insiders featured. Tom Ford, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour also appear alongside never-before-seen footage of Andre.
Colman Domingo Has Already Honored André Leon Talley Through Fashion
Colman’s involvement in the film just makes sense – and we love to see it. As a co-chair of the 2025 Met Gala, the actor stepped onto the carpet in a sweeping blue Valentino cape embellished across the shoulders. The look immediately brought Talley to mind, specifically the dramatic blue cape he wore to the Met Gala in 2011.
Colman confirmed the reference himself with Vogue.
“It’s a little nod to Andre Leon Talley as well,” he said while discussing the inspirations behind his look. “There’s a great photo of him actually at the Met Gala with a beautiful blue cape,” he continued.
The fashion reference was more than fitting. Colman is redefining men’s fashion on red carpets. Look after look, the actor continues to push men’s fashion forward with color, tailoring, embellishment and silhouettes that refuse to play it safe.
But he couldn’t have done that without the influence of André leading the way. André Leon Talley: Style Is Forever will be in select theatres and available to be streamed online beginning October 9.
