Election day gunfire hits Dennery

A Saint Lucia Fire Service emergency crew rushed on Election Day to Rich Fond, Dennery, where an adult male was found wounded by gunfire in the presence of police officers. 

The incident, reported just after 1 p.m. Monday, came less than 36 hours after a similar trauma call in Grand Ravine.

Regarding the latest incident, the Fire Service said, “On arrival at the scene, an adult male was found in a seated position in the presence of police officers.” 

A medical assessment revealed two penetrating wounds to the back of his calves. 

The victim was treated on site before being transported to a medical facility for advanced care, consistent with trauma response protocols.

In the early hours of Sunday, at 02:04 a.m., fire officers encountered another adult male lying supine on the ground with a serious chest injury.

“An assessment revealed a penetrating wound to the right side of the chest,” the Fire Service reported. 

Emergency personnel administered immediate treatment before transferring the victim to a nearby medical facility for further care.
