Environment Minister Heads to Algeria

The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ms. Masouda Bint Baham Ould Mohamed Lagdhaf, departed the capital Nouakchott early this Friday morning for Algiers, at the invitation of her Algerian counterpart, Ms. Kaouthar Krikou, to participate in events marking International Day for Biological Diversity, which is observed annually on May 22.

This visit provides an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries by developing a joint action plan to implement the memorandum of understanding signed by both sides last April in Algeria, on the sidelines of the 20th session of the Mauritanian-Algerian Joint High Commission, which is chaired by the prime ministers of both countries.

The Minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development.
