Ethio Telecom Links Manufacturing to Digital Future with e-Tamirt Platform

Ethio telecom  has signed a series of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreements aimed at strengthening the capacity of Ethiopia’s manufacturing industries and enhancing national market linkages during the “Ethiopia Tamirt” Expo.

The agreements were concluded with the Basic Metals and Engineering Industry Association, the Textile and Apparel Industry Association, and the Ethiopian Leather Industries Association under a Business-to-Government (B2G) framework.

Through these partnerships, Ethio telecom will source key infrastructure inputs from local manufacturers, including fiber optic cables, power and data transmission cables, a range of spare parts, and employee uniforms required for telecom and electricity infrastructure expansion projects.

The initiative is designed to strengthen domestic procurement systems by ensuring access to reliable and quality inputs within the local market, while simultaneously enabling Ethiopian manufacturers to supply competitive products and contribute to addressing supply chain gaps.

Beyond procurement efficiency, the agreements are expected to contribute to expanding the production capacity of local industries and supporting import substitution. This is anticipated to enhance foreign currency savings, facilitate technology transfer, and strengthen Ethiopia’s manufacturing competitiveness.

Ethio telecom also reaffirmed its ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Industry in advancing Ethiopia’s digital economy. This includes the implementation of the “e-Tamirt” B2B e-commerce platform, designed to further strengthen market linkages among manufacturers and accelerate industrial digital transformation.

The platform forms part of broader national efforts to integrate digital infrastructure with industrial growth, fostering a more connected, efficient, and competitive manufacturing ecosystem.
