Greene, Dowdye Book Semifinal Spots While Swimmers and Boxers Bow Out Of Commonwealth Games

Sprinters Cejhae Greene and Geolyna Dowdye will, on Tuesday, compete in the semifinals round of their respective events at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland after comfortably advancing from the preliminary round over the last 36 hours.

Competing Sunday, Greene registered a time of 10.12 seconds to comfortably win his heat and book a spot in the semifinals of the men’s 100 meters event. He will run in Heat 3 slated to race off at 2:10 p.m.

Meanwhile, Dowdye registered a time of 11.28 seconds in Heat 3 of the women’s 100 meters, advancing to the semifinals. The Antiguan will compete in the opening heat on Tuesday which is slated to start at 2:36 p.m.

In swimming, Antigua and Barbuda’s Jadon Wuilliez, on Sunday, registered a new national record in the men’s 50 meters breaststroke, clocking a time of 27.69 to advance to the semifinal round. The swimmer however, did not qualify for the final after clocking a time of 28.01 in the semis.

Bianca Mitchell (1:00.86) and Aunjelique Liddie (1:03.92), also competed on Sunday, but bowed out of the women’s 100 meters freestyle competition.

Boxer Zalaan Jan was eliminated in the round of 16 in the men’s 75-80k category, losing 5-0 to India’s Ankush Ankush. Jan advanced to the round of 16 following a spirited victory over Happy Ngwira on Saturday.

Still in boxing, UK-basked Alston Ryan, was eliminated in the opening round following a loss to Malawi’s Elias Bonzo in the 65.3k division.
