With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Alcurtis Robinson, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22.
Born on February 8, 1940, in Cliftonville, Mississippi, to Eris and Corean Robinson, Alcurtis was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He later spent 34 years in Omaha, Nebraska, before retiring with his family in Phoenix, Arizona.
Alcurtis was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Carolyn Robinson, for nearly 58 years, and a proud father to Alan and Lindsay Robinson. He was the youngest sibling of Mildred Boykins, Ann Hampton, Henry Robinson, and Eris Robinson, and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Sumner High School, Alcurtis continued his education at Harris-Stowe Teachers College before serving in the United States Army. He built a distinguished career with Mutual of Omaha, becoming the company’s first Black Vice President.
Deeply committed to service, he worked with the Urban League and Big Brothers Big Sisters, mentored many, and was a proud member of the Royal Vagabonds. A Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in Omaha, he lived his faith through service, including prison ministry.
After receiving a heart transplant 16 years ago, Alcurtis embraced each day with gratitude. He loved golf, sporting events, and sharing great meals with family and friends.
In his final act of generosity, he donated his body to science.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Alan and Lindsay; his cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Lauryn, Chloe, Willow, Ava, and Payton Robinson; his great-grandson, Tashari Curtis Robinson Moore; and many loving relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 8 at 11:00 a.m. at New Sunny Mount Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
