Inspirational Spotlight: Flau’jae Johnson, The Dreamer and Barrier Breaker

In a world where many feel pressured to choose between their passions, Flau’jae Johnson is a shining example that you don’t have to. As both a talented rapper and a fantastic basketball player, Flau’jae is breaking barriers and redefining what it means to excel in multiple realms of success. I admire Flau’jae for what she does. I don’t look at too many celebrities or stars as inspirational figures, but Flau’jae is different! She reminds me of the culture of limitless possibilities and no limitations that I am a part of under my grandfather, Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood, the Father of Possibleology and Possibility Education Awareness. My grandfather, whether teaching in the pulpit of his church or in the academic classrooms of the school he founded, has always taught that GOD places seeds of possibilities in us; therefore, we are never at the mercy of limitations. Also known as the Law of Possibility, founded on Mark 9:23, all things are possible to him who believes.  Therefore, GOD has made us totally possible in Him.  

Flaujae’s journey is not just about using her GOD-given personal possibleness to create her personal success but also using her gifts to uplift and inspire others, especially young African American girls, to pursue their dreams without fear of limitations.

Flau’jae’s talents are undeniable. On the basketball court, she is a force to be reckoned with, combining athleticism, strategy, and a competitive spirit that has earned her recognition at the highest levels. She won the NCAA with LSU Lady Tigers in 2023, her freshman year, and played on McDonald’s All-American team in high school. This upcoming school year, she will be a Junior at LSU. 

Off the court, she transforms into a lyrical powerhouse, using her music to express her thoughts, share her experiences, and inspire her listeners. Balancing these two demanding careers, not to mention her new podcast, is no small accomplishment. Still, Flau’jae does it with grace, proving that with hard work and determination, nothing is impossible for the one who believes.

When she’s not shooting hoops, laying down tracks, or hosting her podcast, Flau’jae is dedicated to encouraging the next generation by giving back through her different events or mentoring little kids on the court. She understands the importance of representation and is committed to showing young girls, particularly African American girls, that they can break through the barriers that society often places in their way. Her message is clear: there are no limits to what you can achieve when you have GOD and a dream.  Through her actions and words, Flau’jae teaches not only young people, but adults as well to dream big and pursue those dreams with passion and perseverance and never doubt GOD and your ability to believe in yourself, trusting GOD in the process! 

Flau’jae’s journey has not been without its challenges. Growing up, she faced her share of obstacles, from the death of her father to society trying to place limitations on her. Despite these hurdles, she has risen above them, turning adversity into strength and challenges into opportunities. Her story is one of resilience, demonstrating that it’s possible to overcome negativity and emerge stronger with faith in GOD. Flau’jae acknowledges her success and strength comes from GOD! She knows that her success, achievements, and accomplishments result from GOD’S Grace and love. 

 Flau’jae knows what it’s like to be a pioneer, to face criticism and backlash for doing something that has never been done before. Yet, she stands firm, and her faith is anchored in GOD, using her platform to encourage others to create their own paths, no matter how impossible they may seem.

In everything she does, Flau’jae is breaking barriers and setting new standards. She is a pioneer in both the music and sports worlds, showing that it is possible to be multi-gifted and successful in more than one arena. Her success is not just her own; it is a victory for all those who have ever been told that they have to choose between their passions. Flau’jae is living proof that you can be anything and everything you want to be when you believe in GOD and His Word and want to be a beacon of hope.

Flau’jae Johnson’s legacy will be one of empowerment. She is a role model for young girls everywhere, especially those who may feel limited by their circumstances. Through her music, her basketball career, and her outreach, she is planting seeds of hope and possibility in the hearts of many. Flau’jae’s message is one of perseverance, strength, and limitless possibilities. She is not just a star but a beacon of what can be achieved when you refuse to be limited by society’s opinion.

As a result of your fearless drive and confidence to break limitations and go beyond what society says is okay, to dream big and pursue your dream, you have restored people’s hope to dream again. Sometimes, the load may be heavy, but you have people who are genuinely rooting and praying for you! You are amazing, and you rock! Keep shining all for the glory of GOD and break even more barriers that will cause people to scratch their heads because, in Christ, you are possible!
