By Zoila Palma: Today in neighboring Peten, Guatemala, truckers, taxi operators and motorists are staging protests and road blockades at main locations protesting high fuel prices and rising cost of living.
The road to the Mundo Maya International Airport and Sayaxché has been blocked as demonstrators are demanding that the Guatemalan government consider measures to reduce fuel prices and alleviate the population’s economic situation.
In addition, the protestors are voicing their concerns about the high electricity bills in Peten.
