By Zoila Palma: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized more than $10.7 million worth of cocaine hidden inside a commercial tractor-trailer transporting cabbage at the Pharr Port of Entry in Texas last Monday.
The major drug bust occurred during a routine inspection at the border crossing near the southernmost part of the state, Fox reports.
According to CBP, officers used a canine unit and nonintrusive imaging technology to inspect the trailer, leading to the discovery of a concealed shipment.
A subsequent physical search uncovered 477 packages containing approximately 1,173 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $10,787,500. The narcotics and the commercial truck were seized by authorities.
