The “Doomsday” Date Mathematics pointing to the end of 2026 seems to have been calculated 66 Years Ago.

The World never runs short of doomsday predictions, many quoting ancient seers, prophets, shamans and in some cases even scientists.

Almost each year on Calendar features an -end-of-the-world date and 2026 is no exception.

Anyway, what if a mathematical equation written more than six decades ago pointed to Friday, November 13, 2026, as a “Doomsday”?

For starters, the Friday 13 date itself is always considered to be an ‘unlucky day!’ in western cultures.

And now again, mathematicians feel it will the final date for global existence.

This time the ‘final date’ for mankind and their ecosystem is being calculated in numbers, mathematics is, apparently, the doom machine here.

In 1960, scientist Heinz von Foerster, together with Patricia M. Mora and Lawrence W. Amiot, published a provocative paper in the journal Science titled “Doomsday: Friday, 13 November, A.D. 2026.” The study examined historical human-population data and attempted to mathematically model the rapid acceleration of population growth.

Their model produced a striking result: if humanity continued following the same mathematical growth pattern observed over the preceding centuries, the equation would approach a mathematical singularity around 2026.9, which is reportedly corresponding to November 13, 2026.

In the model, the population would mathematically approach infinity as the date was reached.

But there is an important detail: this was never a scientifically established prediction that the world would literally end on November 13, 2026.

The paper was a mathematical extrapolation based on historical population trends. It essentially demonstrated that an accelerating growth curve could not continue indefinitely without eventually reaching an unrealistic mathematical limit.

And the real world did not continue along that exact curve. Population growth rates changed substantially after the period used to construct the original model, meaning the assumptions behind the “Doomsday” equation no longer describe humanity’s actual trajectory.

That makes the story fascinating for another reason: a mathematical model from 1960 produced a precise date that sounds apocalyptic, but the date was actually a warning about the limitations of unchecked exponential or hyperbolic growth.

November 13, 2026, is therefore not a scientifically predicted end of the world. It is the date at which von Foerster and his colleagues’ historical growth equation mathematically breaks down.

More than 60 years later, the equation still offers a powerful reminder: mathematics can reveal where a trend leads.

However, what happens in the real world depends on whether that trend continues.
