Island Tribe Carnival Band has unveiled a bold new strategy for Carnival 2026, placing Saint Lucian youth and homegrown talent at the centre of its campaign with the announcement of three local Band Ambassadors under the theme “Chess, Not Checkers.”
The band says this year’s presentation is designed to deliver a distinctly Saint Lucian carnival experience while using one of the country’s largest carnival platforms to elevate the next generation of entertainers.

Island Tribe official Simone Gemma William said authenticity and community were at the heart of the band’s vision, with a deliberate decision to invest in emerging local artistes rather than established regional names.
“We decided that we wanted to collaborate with the upcoming rising stars or the younger artistes because clearly, we believe that Saint Lucia does have a lot of potential and I believe that also they have valuable contributions towards the entire carnival experience,” William said.
Leading the ambassador lineup is soca artiste Mica, who described the partnership as the fulfilment of a long-held dream.
“It’s something I have always spoken into existence, working with a band,” she said.
Mica explained that her musical journey began at a young age before transitioning into calypso in 2023 and entering the soca arena in 2024 with the song I Am Soca alongside Imran Nerdy.
Joining her is popular Dennery Segment performer Ensley “Andrew” Morille, best known for the hit Biscuit. He described the opportunity as a major milestone in his career.
“I am very, very excited for my first time out there… that’s a great opportunity and I am willing to grab it,” Andrew said.
Completing the trio is rising Dennery Segment artiste Gabby Gabby, whose song Free My Mind has earned growing popularity across Saint Lucia.
“Me as an artiste, I am just very out there and bring out positive energy to everybody,” she said.
The three ambassadors will serve as the faces of Island Tribe throughout the 2026 carnival season, attending official events, engaging directly with revellers and bringing their energy to the Parade of the Bands.
The announcement was made during the official launch of the 2026 Band Ambassadors on Thursday at Power FM, signalling what Island Tribe says is a renewed commitment to celebrating Saint Lucian culture by putting local talent in the spotlight.
