JAFC U/15 secures six points in weekend clash

Julinho Athletic Football Academy (JAFC) U/15s delivered a dominant performance against Brave Soccer Club (SC) on Friday, securing a convincing 4–0 victory at the Jan Möhr football field. JAFC controlled the game from start to finish, dominating possession and creating chance after chance. 

The standout performer was JAFC’s number seven, Zizino Keyser, who scored a brilliant hat-trick from the wing, constantly troubling the Brave SC defence. JAFC’s attacking pressure and solid team performance secured a comfortable clean-sheet victory and another impressive result for the U/15 side.

Keyser felt delighted with his team’s performance on the day, as they collected three points and he also scored his hat-trick. 

“I would rate my performance today out of seven, because I could have finished off other chances I had in the game. It was a good performance, and we won,” he said.

He insisted, however, that the defence line still needs to improve, even though they came away with a clean sheet. 

“It was not their best, but they tried throughout the match. In order for us to improve collectively, we should play the ball quickly and take our chances in front of goal.”

Coach Ricky Averia from JAFC was also pleased with the three points, as the team is getting closer to the knockout stages. 

“We’re getting closer to the play-offs, so I am pretty happy with their performance today. The positive we can take from the game is that the guys got their three points, and the negative is that there is always room for improvement.”

He added, “Sometimes the guys get carried away with the game, and then our principles go out the window; that is something we need to improve on. There is a good bunch of guys here; they value a clean sheet just as much as a goal, and they always challenge themselves to keep one. They are very keen to keep clean sheets in every game.”

On Saturday, JAFC U/15 continued their strong form, delivering a convincing 3–0 win over Quest 11. From the opening whistle, JAFC A controlled the game, showing great teamwork, determination, and composure in front of goal. They created several chances and kept Quest 11 under pressure throughout, eventually finding the back of the net three times.

Coach Averia was once again satisfied with the performance and thankful for the three points. 

“I think the boys took a while to get into the game, but eventually, when we got into our stride, it was a good game,” he said.

Averia still maintained that his side should be lethal in front of goal, but, in his opinion, he attributed the problem to all teams in the league. 

“I think that’s a big problem for us; I suppose it affects all the other teams as well. Our finishing and our composure in front of the ball and in front of goal. I think we can still work on it.”

“Positives are that the boys are really gelling as a team and reaching the knockout stages. It’s important for us to build that team atmosphere, because we can only do it together. There’s always room for improvement. Our boys need to get going on the first whistle. As you know, how we start dictates the game,” he concluded.

Although Quest 11 has lost both games to JAFC, coach Frans Nauseb feels his charges have shown significant improvement so far this season.

“I am very happy with their performance today because they did their best. It’s only that they are physically a bit weaker than JAFC,” he said.

“We improved. We lost the first leg heavily, but we improved. We are lacking in the middle, especially from the middle upwards. We are struggling in that area, so we have to work on it. But I hope for the best in the next match.”
