Jason Momoa Wants Lobo to Take on Superman

When Jason Momoa officially debuted as Lobo in Supergirl, fans immediately started imagining where the intergalactic bounty hunter could appear next in the new DC Universe. For Momoa, the answer is simple: bring on Superman.

During a press interview attended by Black Girl Nerds, Momoa shared his excitement about stepping into the boots of one of DC’s most beloved antiheroes and revealed which hero he’d most like to see Lobo clash with on screen.

Lobo vs. Superman? Jason Momoa Is Ready

When asked who he’d like to see Lobo hunt down as a bounty hunter, Momoa didn’t hesitate.

“Well, I’d like to see him go up with Supes,” he said. “Ooh. I mean, you wanna go see the man and I’m the main man. Just get them together.”

The matchup would be a dream come true for comic book fans. Throughout DC Comics history, Lobo and Superman have crossed paths numerous times, often resulting in explosive battles fueled by Lobo’s reckless confidence and Superman’s unwavering sense of justice.

Momoa clearly relishes the idea of bringing that dynamic to the big screen opposite David Corenswet’s Superman.

When BGN jokingly suggested that Momoa might physically tower over Corenswet, the actor laughed off the comparison.

“I think he’s a pretty, pretty tall guy,” Momoa said. “It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter.”

For Momoa, it’s less about size and more about seeing two larger-than-life personalities collide.

Riding the Space Hog Wasn’t Easy

Of course, no conversation about Lobo would be complete without discussing his iconic motorcycle, the Space Hog.

BGN asked Momoa about operating the massive vehicle after seeing it up close.

“It’s tough to ride,” Momoa admitted. “Because it doesn’t really turn. You got missiles on the side that doesn’t let it turn. Aside from that, it’s pretty awesome.”

Despite its intimidating appearance, the bike is functional.

“Yeah,” he said when asked if it was operable. “A little bit.”

The actor recalled taking the motorcycle around set simply to gauge reactions from cast and crew.

“We rode it around the set. Looked at all the grips, just stared at everybody. Just wanted to see everyone’s reactions.”

One crew member in particular had an unforgettable response.

“I walked right up to Craig, and he was just freaked out. Got chills. He’s been working for two months, dying to see Lobo.”

That enthusiasm wasn’t limited to the crew. Momoa says everyone immediately embraced the character the moment he arrived on set.

“My first experience, everyone just called me Lobo. So I just stayed in it the whole day. There was never Jason until I was out.”

Becoming the King of Violence

Momoa’s first day as Lobo immediately threw him into the action.

“The first scene was us getting on the motorcycle and riding through the fire, skid to a stop. It was just the perfect scene to do.”

The sequence sounds tailor-made for the Czarnian bounty hunter.

“Slide in, pull the cig, and that was it.”

While fans will undoubtedly be excited for the action scenes, Momoa revealed that one of his favorite moments came from a quieter scene set in a jail cell.

The actor explained that the sequence helped him discover new layers of the character while filming.

“It’s like a subtle scene. I learned so much in that as an actor because there wasn’t a lot to do on the page.”

Watching Supergirl fight sparked something unexpected in his performance.

“I didn’t read that and I didn’t feel that until I was fully in character, and then watching her fight. Then just going like, ‘Oh, this guy’s the king of violence.'”

That realization transformed the scene for him.

“This became this whole different thing where I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, there you are.’ And so all this stuff’s coming out of me playing the character.”

A Perfect Match Between Actor and Character

For years, Momoa has publicly spoken about his love for Lobo, making the casting feel like one of the most natural pairings in comic book movie history. From tearing across the screen on the Space Hog to imagining future battles with Superman, the actor appears completely at home as DC’s loudest, roughest, and most unapologetically chaotic antihero.

And if Momoa gets his wish, this won’t be the last time audiences see the Main Man causing trouble across the DC Universe. A showdown with Superman may already be at the top of his bounty list.
