Raisha and Chris’ Elegant Engagement Session in Houston, TX

Raisha and Chris met in 2023 at the Texas Southern University Homecoming tent hosted by Raisha’s line sister and Chris’s best friend. Raisha walked in simply minding her business and enjoying the day, but from the moment they were introduced, Chris felt an immediate shift and knew what he wanted.

He intentionally asked Raisha’s line sister about her afterward, which sparked a quiet plan to get them both to Prairie View (PV) Homecoming the following weekend. Despite Raisha running four hours late due to a packed schedule and Chris being just five minutes away from leaving, fate stepped in. When Raisha finally made it to the tent, their eyes met—steady, warm, and instantly familiar. They spent the next hour laughing, debating college football stats, and slipping into an effortless rhythm. Before leaving, Chris walked Raisha two miles to her car and asked her on their first date at Pappadeaux’s. They have been together ever since, building a bond rooted in patience, kindness, and deep compassion.

Engagement story (please tell us the story of your engagement proposal) 

On February 22nd, Raisha and Chris went to church like a typical Sunday morning. Afterward, Chris told Raisha they would be attending a dinner with his clients, though he had actually mentioned a spa day and a staycation at the Thompson Hotel because of the busy week she had. Unbeknownst to Raisha, he had a different plan entirely. He instructed her to put on a nice dress, and they drove to the Thompson Hotel.

Upon arrival, Chris walked Raisha up to the rooftop of the hotel, where they walked out toward the Houston skyline. Raisha looked to her right and noticed a photographer discreetly taking photos, which instantly brought her to tears. Chris got down on one knee in front of the beautiful  Houston skyline and asked Raisha to marry him. Although the engagement was held in private, Chris surprised Raisha afterward with an engagement party attended by their closest friends and family to celebrate their union.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding? 

Raisha and Chris are most excited to bring their loved ones together across the world to Cape Town, South Africa, for an unforgettable celebration of their love. South Africa holds a special place in their hearts for its rich culture, breathtaking architecture, and world-renowned wine country.

More than anything, they look forward to exchanging their vows, surrounded by a handpicked group of family and friends who mean the absolute world to them. Stepping into this new chapter as husband and wife in a place full of beauty, history, and soul—and celebrating that moment on the dance floor with their favorite people—is what they are anticipating most.
