Joseph Vaccaro receives disclosure in Gaston Barrow murder case

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Thirty-year-old taxi operator Joseph Gabourel Vaccaro has received disclosure in the murder case stemming from the September 2025 shooting death of Gaston Barrow at Old Belize.

Vaccaro, a resident of Cumberbatch Street, appeared unrepresented before the Chief Magistrate in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

He was provided with 154 pages of disclosure, five compact discs and photographs forming part of the prosecution’s evidence. The matter was adjourned until September 7, 2026, when a preliminary inquiry is scheduled to begin.

Vaccaro was first arraigned for Barrow’s murder on October 6, 2025, and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Police said Barrow and another man, Hank Carr, were shot at the Old Belize compound on the night of September 28, 2025. Barrow was pronounced dead on arrival at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, while Carr was treated and later released.

Investigators allege Carr was driving a vehicle with Barrow in the front passenger seat when a gunman near a taxi opened fire. The shooter reportedly entered the taxi and escaped towards the nearby police checkpoint.

Police later reviewed surveillance footage from the area, which reportedly led to Vaccaro’s detention and subsequent charge.
