A march and rally to demand justice for Nolan Wells will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, 1:00pm, starting at the Justice Statue in front of the Martin Luther King Jr Federal Building and United States Courthouse at 50 Walnut Street in Newark, NJ.

The march is being called by the Newark supporters of One March, Fifty States. It is being co-sponsored by the People’s Organization For Progress (POP) and other partners.

“When we were approached by the lead organizer for this protest to demand justice for Nolan Wells we were glad to endorse this event and give our support in any way we could,” Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress stated.

“We are supporting this protest because we join with the parents of Nolan Wells in the struggle for justice for their son. We believe as they do that their son did not accidentally drown. We do not accept the findings of the grand jury,” Hamm said.

“We support the parents in their demand for a thorough, transparent, and honest investigation. We want the whole truth, and all the facts related to his death to be brought to light. And we want any person or persons found to be responsible for his death to be held accountable,” he said.

Nolan Xavier Wells was 18 years-old when he was found dead in the water near the northwestern tip of Horn Island off the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He went missing on July 4, 2026. His body was found on July 6th.

After reviewing autopsies on his body by the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office and an independent pathologist hired by his parents a Jackson County grand jury concluded his death was “consistent with drowning.”

The Newark march and rally for Nolan Wells is one of many that will take place across the nation. Demonstrations for Wells will take place on November 1st in every state across the country under the theme of “One March, 50 States.”

The national organizers for this event say that they want answers to the question “What happen to Nolan Wells?” And that they are seeking “truth, transparency, and accountability.” They want people all around the country to wear black on that day.

“The death of Nolan Wells has outraged black people and people of conscience across the country. We urge everyone who wants justice for Nolan Wells to attend this demonstration and make their voices heard,” Hamm said.
