The police confirm that Geoffrey Kasume (40), the Kenyan national arrested last week, is the only accused in Regina Kondombolo’s murder.
Kondombolo (33), who was alleged to have been in a romantic relationship with Kasume, was found dead at her residence at Otjomuise 2 in Windhoek last Monday.
The police say she was assaulted and strangled.
National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi confirmed to The Namibian on Monday that there are no other suspects.
“We don’t know any other suspect.
The suspect appeared in court,” she said.
Kasume was arrested last Wednesday and appeared before magistrate Olivia van der Byl in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court at Katutura on a charge of murder.
The charge was read with provisions of the Combating of Domestic Violence Act on Friday.
The state alleges that Kasume murdered Kondombolo on Saturday, 7 February, following police confirmation that Kondombolo had been assaulted and strangled.
Kondombolo had allegedly been in an on-and-off romantic relationship with the suspect since she was 14 years old.
Kasume allegedly helped search for Kondombolo, breaking into her residence with the landlord when they failed to get a response from inside.
The case has been postponed to 24 April for further investigation and Kasume will remain in custody.
